Invitation to the webinar: ENVIRONMENTAL APPROXIMATION IN WESTERN BALKANS AND TURKEY

What does the EU accession in the Western Balkans and Turkey mean for the environment? What is the role of CSOs in this process? Will the state of environmental protection be improved or not?

If you are interested in these questions please join us at the WEBINAR:  ENVIRONMENTAL APPROXIMATION IN WESTERN BALKANS AND TURKEY, on Wednesday 24th February and Thursday 25th February.

On Monday 22nd February, you will receive information how to log in to the webinar. You’ll need a sound Internet connection and a web browser with flash installed.

The webinar is organized as part of an EU funded project Advocacy NGOs networks for sustainable use of energy and natural resources in the Western Balkans and Turkey – ETNAR (IPA-CSF-2014-351-683). The project is coordinated by Zelena akcija/FoE Croatia. Project partners are: Green Home from Montenegro, Center for Environment and Center for Ecology and Energy from Bosnia and Herzegovina, CEKOR from Serbia, Henrich Böll Foundation from Germany, Friends of the Earth International from the Netherlands, Friends of the Earth Europe from Belgium, OAA from Albania, and DEM and Eko-Svest from Macedonia.

The purpose of this session is to make an overview of the scope of the EU legislation on environmental issues – Chapter 27

SESSION II
EXPERIENCE OF INTERNATIONAL AND EU BASED ORGANIZATIONS ON INFLUENCE OF EU ENVIRONMENTAL POLICIES

Online panel on EU environmental legislation from the perspective of European environmental CSOs:

We will present some analysis, on the issues of EU Horizontal legislation, Climate and Nature protection legislation and any other example. After 15-20 min presentations we will have a debate on how EU CSOs can influence EU legislation and policies and how CSOs from the region can access the information and contribute to the discussion.

c) Chapter 27 accession process and monitoring situation in different countries Western Balkan Countries and Turkey 16.00 – 17.30
What is the situation now, what are CSOs doing, how the process has been developing.
The purpose of the session is to discuss what is the situation now in a particular country, what are CSOs doing, how the process has been developing and what would be advices or lessons learned for CSOs that others can use or at least be aware of.

The session will be moderated, and we hope to have 10 min for each country in the order of speaking:
