Activists of Friends of the Earth Austria / GLOBAL 2000 and Greenpeace Austria organized an action on Wednesday (07.01.2015 .) outside the headquarters of the oil company OMV in Vienna, on the occasion of the company’s new CEO Rainer Seele’s first day in the office.

They organised a “welcome” for him by displaying a big carpet with the names of 25,000 Austrians who signed the online protest letters against oil drilling in the Adriatic, which were sent to the new head of OMV. The carpet was at the end presented to the company as a “gift”.

OMV is one of the companies that received a concession for exploration and exploitation of oil and gas in the Adriatic. Their concession, which is joint with the American company Marathon Oil, refers to seven blocks out of ten.

You can still sign GLOBAL 2000’s and Greenpeace’s protest letters.

More photos from the action can be found here.
